Seven years ago, I was just another apartment dweller staring at blank walls, wishing I could have a proper garden. Living in a cramped flat in Mumbai, I thought gardening was something only people with big houses and backyards could enjoy. Boy, was I wrong!
It all started when I bought a single pothos plant for my kitchen window. Watching it thrive despite the limited space got me hooked. Soon, I was experimenting with wall-mounted planters, converting my balcony railing into a herb garden, and even growing tomatoes vertically on my bedroom wall (yes, my roommates thought I’d lost it!).

FlatGardening.com exists because I believe everyone deserves to live surrounded by plants – even if your entire “outdoor space” is a 4×6 balcony or a tiny kitchen window.
My mission? To prove that you don’t need a mansion or a fat wallet to create your own green sanctuary. Whether you’re a complete beginner who’s killed every plant you’ve touched, or someone who’s been wanting to start gardening but thinks apartment living makes it impossible, you’re in the right place.
Why I Started This
After countless failed Pinterest DIY attempts and expensive mistakes (RIP to that ₹3000 hydroponic system I assembled backwards), I realized there wasn’t enough practical, apartment-focused gardening content out there. Most gardening blogs assume you have a sprawling backyard and an unlimited budget.
That’s not reality for most of us.
So here we are – sharing everything I’ve learned from turning my 2BHK into a mini jungle, including all the failures, successes, and “why didn’t anyone tell me this earlier” moments.
